Flashlight

How can we pick our own flashlights?

UltraFire, as a professional flashlight manufacturer, has been offering flashlight products to over 5m people around the world. Here is some advice for new flashlight buyers:

1. Budget & Usage

When you are looking for an everyday carry there are many frugal options available. What most people don't realize that you can get an extremely durable and long-lasting flashlight on a decent budget, such as UltraFire SK68. However, if you are interested in high performance flashlights and you do have a little bit more money to toy around with, there are some really great flashlights available such as UltraFire Maxter V1. Well it totally depends on what you use the flashlight for and how much budget you got. For most people, everyday carry flashlights are quite enough but for some outdoor players, they might need one with big lumen as well as durable and tough.

2. Lumens and Light Output

A Lumen is the unit we use to measure light output. The more Lumens a flashlight puts out the brighter your flashlight's beam will be. For example a flashlight that has an output of 1000 Lumens is going to be brighter and have a further beam distance than a flashlight with say 180 Lumens. As a buyer you need to pick the Lumen output that is most suitable for your needs.

3. Battery type

The two main categories you can put flashlight batteries into are: rechargeable and non-rechargeable. There are many types of flashlights that take one kind or the other. A non-rechargeable battery is perfect for those of you who are just on the go and will pick up a spare pack of batteries whenever it is needed. However, disposal batteries are cheaper and can be found almost anywhere.

On the other hand for those of you who are always on the go or tend to use your flashlights more often - flashlights with rechargeable batteries might be for you. Do you need your light for work or frequently go venturing into the outdoors? Then a flashlight that uses rechargeable batteries could help save you money over time.

4. Durability

Durability doesn't matter to everyone but it is one factor that shouldn't be overlooked when buying a new flashlight. In this day and age there are so many quality certifications and durability tests that it seems some flashlights are almost indestructible. There's flashlights that are waterproof, impact resistant, they can be thrown off a cliff and still work - well maybe.

As a police officer, construction worker, firefighter, or some other hands on profession, you will want to look into a flashlight that can keep up and last through tough conditions. You want a flashlight that can be dropped from higher distances and can resist water penetration to a greater extent.

All in all, UltraFire offers you a wide range of selection when you want to buy a flashlight. Google "UltraFire" and you will see there are so many content on this brand, good or bad. Make your own judgement and don't forget you may always be able to contact us for any inquiries you have.

What should I do if my flashlight is difficult to focus on?

1. Your light's head is made up of two separate pieces. The reflector lens and the Rapid Focus carriage, which curves off into a tube, are both cylindrical parts. The cylindrical section of some recent variants is silver.

2. Remove the cylinder from the Rapid Focus carriage by turning it counterclockwise.

3. It is important to remember that you should NEVER TOUCH THE LED.

4. Turn the Rapid Focus carriage away from the light. You can now use a damp or dry towel to clean all of the components on the inside. You can use silicon-free grease to treat the O-ring that is now visible in the light chamber.

5. Then, by lifting up the Rapid Focus carriage and putting it back together with the cylindrical component, re-close the light's head. When pulling up the carriage on any model with a Focus Lock function, you must pay special attention to one thing. The grooves on the interior of the carriage must move precisely along the rails that were designed specifically for that purpose.

Is it possible to replace the LED?

No, the UltraFire lights' LEDs are attached to electronic circuit boards and are not replaceable.

Why are the lights in UltraFire different colors? Why are the colors of the lights in UltraFire so different?

You have a few UltraFire lights, and the color of the last one is slightly different from the rest.

With LEDs, this is completely usual. They are manufactured by doping them like computer chips and then covering them in a conversion layer. This turns a portion of the chip's blue light into yellow light. White light is made up of a combination of two different colors. There is a certain level of variation in any technical process. This is referred to as binning in the case of LEDs.

This binning also applies to the color of the light, thus even though the chip type is the same, there are significant variances across various chips.

When should you replace the batteries in your light?

The time to replace the batteries is determined by a number of criteria, including the needs, your particular requirements, and how long the light will be used.

In some cases, it is a good idea to bring extra batteries and/or replace your batteries before a long trip. If the light is not used for an extended period of time, the batteries should indeed be removed.

Are UltraFire flashlights waterproof?

We consider our flashlights to be exceptionally water-resistant, our flashlight waterproof certification for IPX7, which can be deep water one meter.

What is wrong with my LED flashlight since it can't just turn on?

Install new batteries first, positive-end front. Dead or inverted batteries account for 95% of non-working Sure Fire flashlights.

If the flashlight does not turn on after replacing the batteries, try the "paper clip test” as follows:

1. Unscrew and remove the tail cap while the new batteries are still in the light.

2. Touch the flat center of the exposed battery terminal and the rear metal rim of the flashlight with a metal object such as a paper clip or key; the flashlight should switch on.

If the flashlight does not turn on when tested with a paper clip and new batteries, the issue could be unclean or oily tail cap threads. Refer to the question below, "What parts of my flashlight require maintenance?" Pay close attention to the cleaning recommendations as well.

If the flashlight still won't turn on after cleaning the threads, it could be the tail cap switch, but these "tactical" switches seldom fail. Please feel free to contactUltraFire Customer Service at this time.

Is it possible to use rechargeable batteries with this device?

Yes. Our website also selling 18650 rechargeable batteries, which can fit all the Ultrafire flashlights.

What is the number of bulbs on it?

There are no bulbs in it. This is a flashlight with an LED light source. Almost every lamp on the market now is like this. Bulbs are no longer in use.

What is the lumen output of this flashlight?

This depends on the type of LED bulb we use; for example, an XPE LED bulb has a maximum output of 250 lumens, an XM-L2 LED bulb has a maximum output of 800-900 lumens, and an XP-V6 LED bulb has a maximum output of 1000 lumens.

Battery

What is the difference between a battery that has a protective plate and one that does not?

To make our products as resistant as possible, we employ high-quality Birchwood as the raw material and follow a thorough manufacturing and testing process.

How to tell the difference between a battery with a protective plate and a battery without one?

Here is how they differ:

1. The battery's height without the protective plate is 65mm, and the battery's height with the protective plate is 69-71mm.

2. If the battery does not discharge when it hits 2.4V after being discharged to 20V, there is a protection plate present.

3. Make contact with both the positive and negative electrodes. If the battery does not respond after 10 seconds, it has a protection plate installed. If the battery is hot, it suggests there is not a protective plate (This is not a professional test so do not try this at home because it could result in a strong explosion and irreversible personal injury, especially if you use inferior batteries.)

Is it mandatory that I charge it before using it?

Please put it to use first. Charge the flashlight for 4 hours before using it while it is dark. Overcharging lithium batteries is the most dangerous thing you can do to them, so make it a habit to charge them properly.

What is the over-discharge of a lithium battery?

The battery will be harmed if the brightness is noticeably reduced while the battery is still being utilized.

The power will be drastically reduced even after a professional activation.

As a result, please pay special attention to battery maintenance and charge it more regularly.

Is it possible to use my other brand charger? Or you will have to use your charger?

Yes, you are permitted to use your charger. These are NI-MH batteries.

How long does it take for a charge to be completed?

They were pre-charged at about 80% when they arrive.

Is it true that these batteries are pre-charged?

Start with the positive-end front of the fresh batteries. 95 percent of non-working batteries are dead or reversed flashlights.

Try the "paper clip test" if the flashlight does not turn on after replacing the batteries:

1. While the fresh batteries are still in the lamp, detach and eliminate the tail cap.

2. Use a metal object such as a paper clip or a key to touch the flat center of the exposed battery terminal and the flashlight's rear metal rim; the flashlight should turn on.

The issue could be dirty or oily tail cap threads if the flashlight does not switch on when tested with a paper clip and new batteries. Pay close attention to the cleaning instructions in the question below, "What parts of my flashlight require maintenance?"

If the flashlight still won't turn on after cleaning the threads, the tail cap switch might be the culprit, however, these "tactical" switches are notoriously reliable. At this time, please feel free to contact UltraFire Customer Service.

Is there any way to prevent the rechargeable NiCd battery from developing a memory?

Research has shown that the "memory effect" is a rare phenomenon and is almost nonexistent in high-drain applications such as flashlights.

Some tips to help prolong the life of NiCd batteries:

The light should be returned to the charger when it is not in use

It should never be run until the battery is completely exhausted

Return the flashlight to the charger when it begins to dim

Do I need to condition my lead-acid battery; drain it out and fully recharge it?

No. Routinely running the lamp until it extinguishes will drastically shorten the life of the battery. Lead acid batteries need to be fully charged.

The higher the average charge on the battery, the longer it lasts. Deliberately draining a lead-acid battery will damage it quickly.

What is battery acid?

Battery leakage (commonly known as battery acid) is nasty, corrosive stuff. It can burn your skin, contaminate soil, and ruin the device it leaks into. For household batteries, this “acid” is alkaline – thanks to the potassium hydroxide chemical make-up. For lead batteries, sulfuric acid is a dangerous residue, which requires a different type of clean-up.

How do I clean an alkaline battery leak?

Leakage from an alkaline battery is caustic. And, it is better to avoid its handling to prevent chemical burns. If attempting to clean battery leakage from a device, it is advisable to use proper safety equipment(i.e., protective eyewear, gloves, etc.). The leaking batteries should be removed from the device and placed in a plastic bag for disposal in the trash. The best way to remove alkaline leakage from the device is to neutralize it by carefully dabbing it with a few drops of a mild acid like white vinegar or lemon juice. For stubborn leaks, an old toothbrush dipped in vinegar or lemon juice gets the job done. After the leakage has been neutralized (fizzing stops), carefully dry the area. After the area has dried thoroughly, the metal device contacts can be scraped to remove any residue and then polished using a pencil eraser.

UltraFire has undergone improvements in our battery construction in recent years to help prevent alkaline leakage issues. This Powerseal™ Technology has reduced the occurrence of leakage in our alkaline batteries, and we stand behind them with our No-Leak Guarantee on some UltraFire® Batteries.

Charger

Is it possible to utilize an 18650 battery?

Yes, a red light indicates that the device is charging, and a green light indicates that the device is fully charged.

Is the UltraFire charger compatible with other 18650 battery brands?

Yes, it is a universal truth.

Can I use this battery charger with my 3.7v flashlight that has a 3800mah battery?

The capacity of the battery is irrelevant; the voltage can be adjusted to match the charge.

Is there charging protection on this one?

When the charging function is fully charged, the charging function is automatically unplugged with charging protection! Will not result in a surcharge.

Is it possible to charge a 18650 battery with a button top?

Yes, this will charge any 18650 cells, protected or unprotected, button top or flat top.

Do you require any special batteries? Or can any 18650 battery be recharged?

Any 18650 battery, as well as a variety of other sizes.

How long does it take for the 18650 battery to charge?

There are two variants of our charger to select from 500mah and 1000mah.

If your battery has a capacity of 3000mAh, for example. To charge a 1000mah battery, it will take roughly 3 hours.

It takes roughly 6 hours to charge 500mah.

A low charging current extends the life of the battery.

Will this charge the 18650 battery without a button?

Yes, absolutely.

The red light on my steady charger does not light. What could cause this?

First, see if there is power to the charger itself. Second, check to be sure that the flashlight is properly inserted into the charging system. If the red light still does not light, the flashlight and charger should be returned for repair.

Please visit our Service Options section of the website for more information.

How can I tell when my flashlight is fully charged?

Follow the guidelines in the instruction booklet included with the flashlight. Some products have a red and green light combination (Litebox, Vulcan). In that case green indicates a charged condition. Flashing red LEDs on the Stinger and Strion chargers indicate a charged condition.

I have the steady charger. Will the fast charger shorten the life of my battery?

No. Batteries have an expected number of charge/discharge cycles (the number varies by the type of battery).

UltraFire fast chargers safely revert to a maintenance charge rate after the battery is charged.
